Monsieur le Maire

On Monday we are meeting with the vendor of our proposed purchase and the geometre to formally define the land boundaries prior to us signing the CdeV.

We understand from the agent that the maire will also be in attendance. As we want to get off to a good start with the maire, can you confirm that correct way of initially addressing him (I understand the maire is a man) would be

"Monsieur le Maire"?  I'd just like to be sure about this and that this wouldn't be either wrong or too formal?

Monsieur Le Maire or Madame Le Maire is correct here.
