Chancer
As I have been reading for a long long time a French translated book all about canoing (à la pagaie) along various Pacific island coastlines and have found that the author loves to use a different word each time to describe the shoreline; always necessitating a trip to the dictionary your translation looks right to me.You could also translate the sauvage as being untouched or unspoilt.
