Lotmontel
HiCan anyone please confirm the situation about dual nationality for me with respect to my children? (Two children, both born in the UK to british mother and french father). My daughter has been offered and taken up a day a week schooling at a different primary school offered by an association for english / foreign children. The association are telling us that our children are english because only children BORN in France are classified as french; they say that nationality by parentage doesn't apply in France. They say that therefore our children do not have dual-nationality. This has me somewhat confused as we have a livret de famille, both children can get french ID cards and french passports. I can also, if I wanted to, apply for french citizenship via marriage. We have always told our children that they have dual nationality, and now my daughter is becoming confused as when she was filling out a pretend passport at this other school, she was told she had to write anglaise. Can anyone clarify this for me? If, we are right, then I would like to provide evidence from somewhere other than the French / British embassies if possible. Many thanksLotmontelP.S. An equally frustrating thing is that my children are not english anyway but british (english/scottish) but that's another story!
