nectarine
Mr. Nectarine told me that in yesterday's language class (where English and French work together to learn each other's language), his teacher turned to a French chap and asked him to translate, into English, "je suis malade". Her pronunciation must have been a bit suspect as the French trnaslated it as "I am a duck!".Some work obviously needed on her accent ...

allanb
I don't know where that came from, but somebody or something is confused. The only meaning of "ill" that I can think of in which it can be a noun is "bad things", as in "don't speak ill of the dead."
tegwini
http://www.noob.us/humor/lost-in-translation-seriously/I know this was filmed a while back, but it does show the risks of translating via Babelfish (English-French-German-English) and an amusing video too.Tegwini

mint
I thought all French people were hypochondriacs?[;-)] It's often seemed that way to me, talking to friends, acquaintances and neighbours [:D]If I'm allowed to sort of link 2 threads together, can I bring back the Carol Concert thread for a minute? Norman, are you about? And do you know that Charpentier wrote some of the music for LMI?
