Confused of Cornwall....

I know how to change the ending of a regular and irregular verb but when looking at a verb on its own how do you know when its irregular or regular ..or is it just one of the things you have to remember like fem and masc ??

Thankyou

There is a rule and there are exceptions to it (as you'd expect!)

It does require some familiarity with the language.

Verbs ending in "er", like manger, bouger, donner, aimer = 1st group (except aller, bundled in the 3rd group)

Verbs ending in "ir" where the participle present form is in - "issant", like finir (finissant), agir (agissant), rougir (rougissant) = 2nd group

All others, like mourir, aller, pouvoir, courir, entendre = 3rd group

Im having one of those stamp my feet and saying but why moments... think I need food and a rest from the books !!!

Im confused that im being told Croire is a regular verb hence you take the re off and for il/ elle/on there should be no ending ...yet in my verb book they have added a t from nowhere ?

Sorry no scratch that I now see its a irregular verb.. time for a cup of tea me thinks and a cartoon......

Many thanks clair
