Jay
We bought some frozen fish today and after the type of fish it was described as "meunerie". I looked that up and it said "milling"? Some of you bright sparks out there might be so kind and enlighten me as to its relevance to frozen fish?
mint
Just thinking, Jay, I wonder if it's like "meunière", the sort of thing you do with soles? That is, you dust it with seasoned flour and fry in butter.Hmmmm, now you have me intrigued and I would be interested to hear further.
Jay
That could well be it, I've thrown the packet out now but will retrieve it later to see if I got the spelling wrong. Certainly it was covered in seasoned flour, and very tasty too! We thought it may have been reconstituted or some such rubbish but on cooking it was nice looking fish - hake I think (merlu). Jay
Fished the packet out of the bin (pun intended) and you are right - it is meunière. Problem solved, thank you.
