Patf
We've received a devis for some work on our heating system. It's headed:"Devis de ........... +entretien avec prise de contract."Then itemised:"contrat confort chaud. Gaz mural/sol condens."We asked for the boiler to be given a service, but does this mean we're also signing up to an obligation for regular servicing?I would ring and ask the office but my french isn't good enough for that.Hope someone can help. NormanH
The word for a single service is often 'une révision''Entretien' can mean once or can mean regularlybut it is the word 'contrat' which would make me think twice Is it something like this?http://www.gdfsuez-dolcevita.fr/chaudiere-gaz-naturel/entretien-de-chaudiere.html?ns_campaign=efficaciteenergetique_chaudiere&ns_mchannel=liensponsorise_hm&ns_source=google&gs_marque=horsmarque&ns_linkname=revision%20chaudiere%20gaz&ns_clid=google,170239140,170239140,[revision%20chaudiere%20gaz]&gclid=CMGupaPZ8sICFY3JtAodtA4ATADon't forget that in any case there can be an obligation to have them serviced annually http://vosdroits.service-public.fr/particuliers/F20760.xhtml
Patf
Thanks Norman - entretien and contrat instead of revision was what alerted me as well.I've asked my french neighbour now, and she says the same thing, they want you to sign up for an annual contract . She's going to ring up for me next week to see if they will just do a one-off service. The contract is a lot of money which we can't be sure to afford every year. Spyder
I would definitely go somewhere else! You don't need a contract for a one off boiler service. We have ours done each year by a local firm, I just go into the office and ask them to call, no contract, no devis. They service the boiler and clean the chimney for around 110€ (that was last year and included a new jet in the boiler). Years ago we signed a contract for servicing fire extinguishers and it was a pain to get out of, even when we were eventually "allowed" to cancel they said there was a fee to pay (we told them where to go in no uncertain terms)!
