SaligoBay
First, the beggar in Amelie Poulain who won't accept money on Sundays. Bof, hugely overshadowed by (and years behind) the one in Life of Brian - he's been cured of leprosy, so is now upset that he has no living, and goes jumping through the streets shouting "Alms for an ex-leper".Then Corto Maltese talking to the fish. How could anyone take that seriously who had seen the talking fish in Meaning of Life?I keep coming across these little things as I paddle along the tideless seashore that is French humour. No doubt about it, the Python team were brilliant.
letrangere
They most certainly were brilliant. I can so clearly remember Sunday evening (was it 10 or 10.30?) as being the most eagerly awaited moment of the week during my teens. And then watching what was usually a pretty awful programme on a Friday afternoon but which guaranteed practically every week a sketch from the previous week's Python, I'm referring to Ask Aspel.
