Rogermistral
My wife and I have been invited to a French couples home for a meal this Easter.I would presume flowers would be acceptable as a gift for the lady of the house.Has anyone any ideas as to what would be suitable for the gentleman?I would like to take something English.A mature Scottish malt comes to mind, but I dont know if he drinks Scotch?Any other gift ideas for either partner please? Teamedup
I always take flowers or some chocolates from a chocolatier. And we take at least one decent bottle of wine and if it is a special meal then some Champagne too.Chivas Regal sells very well in France, so I can only say that many people must like it if you are wanting to take whisky. And in that case, I would take something like that instead of the champers.
Iceni
Last year was invited to dine with French friends . Arrived clutching bottle of decent wine and a bunch of home grown radishes (no flowers in the garden). The radishes were immediately served with the aperitifs and of course provided a conversation topic for some time!! Not that this will help much as Easter is too early for outdoor radishes but it shows that "different" sometimes works.
