Pilote

Today's offering from the newsstands is Pilote, a magazine which I'm told is an institution, so I thought it deserved a place in Culture.

It was started in 1959 by, wait for it, Goscinny and Uderzo, and another two.   Asterix first saw the light of day in Pilote, as did le Petit Nicolas, and many many others.

I'm not a huge fan of BDs, but this is interesting (and so it should be for 7 euros!).   This is a Noel edition, so lots of vaguely cynical stories and BDs about Santa, commercialism, etc. 

Sometimes it's not entirely clear to me what's funny about an article, but it's all part of the ongoing quest to understand French humour.
