Meo
is, a mon avis, one of the greatest French poets but despite knowing big chunks of his works off by heart i am very ignorant about his background etc. just wondering whether there are any museums/birth places/general hommages to him anywhere in france, esp in the paris area? Will
You might find this link of some use: http://xtream.online.fr/Prevert/. There is an English version of most pages. He lived, like me, in La Manche (spending his last years in the northern part of the département) and his house is now a museum open to the public. See http://www.lahague.org/tourisme/visite/MaisonPrevert.html. There's also a memorial garden, http://www.lahague.org/tourisme/visite/JardinPrevert.html. The nearest major town is Cherbourg. There seem to be several 'Collèges Jacques Prévert' round here which I suppose is some sort of tribute to the man. He was born at Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1900, so there's your Paris connection, though as far as I can tell from the municipal web site there is nothing there in recognition of Prévert.
