Be nice to the canards...

So it would be out of order to say "Beaux nichons, mon petit canard" to a gendarmette?

Obviously the bloke does not know the difference between a duck and a chicken.

No - I just went out yesterday, saw these birds on the pond

So I shouted "Duck!" to let the OH know another bunch of wildfowl had arrived.

And look what happened.

They seem to be eating all the frogpoles and toadpoles - one way to keep the numbers down if you have a noise problem.  [Www]

I'm not sure what's going on but we're up to 9 adult female ducks this afternoon.  It's starting to feel like an invasion.  And the moorhens have got a worried look on their beaks - they used to have the place to themselves.

Next door's cats have only taken one duckling to date, which is a result.  Still six left.

on safari in Tanzania, i saw a really big bird from the jeep and knew straightaway what it was - although I'd never seen one. Other people on the jeep were really surprised when I shouted ' bustard, bustard' - must have been my accent
