FairyNuff
I was talking to my father-in-law yesterday about fetes in France. We have a local fete de la lentille verte de Berry, and I was wondering whether there are any other fetes of relatively unglamorous veggies? [:D] What's you're local event dedicated to?FairyNuff
Gardengirl
Not unglamourous, but very interesting and entertaining, we have our annual fete de la truffe this weekend. There will be special meals all around town, scrambled egg with truffles available at stalls around the square and lots of truffles to be bought - at a price! There's also a 'garrigue' in the square, where a truffle grower will show the skills of his dog and pig. Usually anyone in the crowd can try out their dogs at truffle hunting, but they usually just mark out their territory in the usual way! [:D]A little more unusual, at a nearby village there's the chickpea festival each summer, with all sorts of well-attended events, such as walking in the chickpea fields!
