Labeling for UK foodstuffs

Diana

Recommended Posts

I have heard confliting reports about the selling of UK food stuffs in France and whether they need to be labled in French, ie would a tin of Heinz baked beans need to have all the ingredients and cooking instructions in French?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure they do. I went to the "comptoir irlandais" during my lunch break today to stock up on anything cadbury, worcester sauce and a few other things. I have just fished my dairy milk wrapper out of the bin and there is a sticker saying "chocolat au lait: lait, sucre, cacao beurre de cacao, graisse vgtale, E422, armes... and a bit more". I can't see any reason why they would bother if it wasn't compulsory.

Well every item of food of british origin that I have ever bought here has always had the ingredients, cooking directions and details in French as well as english. It is also a good way of learning practical french words as a comparison.
