A rather nice "tea" drink

A french customer has just swapped some Argentinian "teabags" with me for some of my PG tips. They are called Cruz de Malta and are small white sachets with red writing and a maltese cross on the front. The argintinians call it a mate and you treat it like a teabag in either a mug or teapot, infuse a few mins and then add milk if you wish and sugar if you like or have black. Its got a smoky taste but a tea flavour and it comes from a tree similar to the holly bush. You can buy them loose in specialist coffee/delicatesen épicieries here. I've got rather hooked on this and if you like trying all the infusions can recommend itif you can find some.

Well I havn't seen any pink elephants pass by yet, will let you know when I do. Actually now you mention it,it is a bit of an unknown quantity really although I doubt the shop in town would be selling anything iffy or everyone would be in there.

Well blow me --- there was a lady on the Antiques Roadshow on Sunday who had a collection of the watsits you drink it from - they looked a little like incense burners. I think she was hoping they were rather valuable but she seemed disappointed by the 'expert' valuation. She also had a little silver straw thingy that you drink it through.
