Russethouse
Has anyone got one ?The main purpose would be to cook small portions of brown rice. Any thoughts. ?
julia
Didn't SB have one of those, though I must admit that I only saw it hung on her garden fence in a photo.I was once taught to cook rice in a very economical way, get the rice and its water to boiling point cover and turn it off. When you go back to it it about half an hour it will have absorbed all the water and be perfect and with seperate grains , not mushy.
Russethouse
it would be my husband using it most and I think he had an electric one in mind.
Tony F Dordogne
Lots of larger towns now have Chinese supermarkets and they sell ricer steamers though they are traditional not electrical - or buy a Tefal steamer and use the rice steamer which comes with that. It's so easy I can use it but I do prefer the old fashioned way with a pan of water.
LesPonts
We've got one (a Breville) and it's absolutely fantastic. It cooks rice to perfection and keeps it warm & perfectly cooked for up to at least an hour after it's "ready time". It comes into its own when you've got friends round for a meal.....no stress just perfect rice. Also when the main dish takes a little longer to cook than originally planned your rice is still perfect. Couldn't live without it now!
Cassis
I don't need one. I've got a wife. Like a Breville, cooks rice to perfection, but noisier and needs wine to keep it in perfect working order.(Ducks down swiftly behind wall)
