Limousin Lass
Yesterday I put some chicken portions into marinade ready for some friends who were supposed to be coming for lunch today but had a phone call late last night cancelling as they have to fly back to UK rather urgently. The marinades are oil based with various herbs and spices (made 4 different types), we will have some of them for lunch but can I freeze the remainder in their raw state in the marinade or should I cook and then freeze? ali-cat
If the chicken was fresh & not already frozen I can't see any reason not to freeze them raw, in their marinade. I freeze lots of oil based vegetable dishes, with no problem. But why not just cook the lot, freeze what you don't have for lunch & then you'll just have to defrost & re-heat them next time you fancy a tasty lunch?!! Nell
When I see chicken or lamb on offer in the supermarket, I bring it home, marinade it and put it in the freezer ready for the BBQ. Great, and also stops the need to plan ahead marinading meat 2 days before use.
Limousin Lass
Thank you ali-cal and Nell, I have compromised and put some in the freezer raw with the marinade and will cook some and freeze them, be interesting to see which turns out best later.
