Pierre ZFP
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE4 tablespoons flour 4 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 egg 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) A small splash of vanilla extract 1 large coffee mug Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world ? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night! sunny
Looks yummy! Can I use whole wheat flour (actually, malted grain flour with crunchy bits in it) - I don't have all purpose flour at the moment, but would like some cake with my afternoon tea [:)]

Âme
Not bad. That is the first cake I've made that took longer to eat than to make. [:)] I cooked it for 3.5 minutes at 750W. The chocolate chunks sank, so it looked a bit like a chocolate hedgehog. What do you call a fast cake? sunny
I made a few variations:*Used malted flour with crunchy bits (sunflower seeds etc.) as I didn't have all purpose flour*Halved the sugar and oil*Added a pinch of salt, baking powder, cinnamon and chilli powder Should have stuck with the full amount of sugar and oil, as the cake was a bit chewy and a bit low on the sweet scale. Felt more like a brownie than a cake - but overall, quite delicious!

pokeyhat
Well, I couldn't resist trying it and I thought it was pretty good. It didn't deserve that bad press; not rubbery at all.. Mind you, I didn't make it in a mug, as the dry ingredients almost filled a mug. In fact, it rose to fill a 2 pint bowl! Maybe that was why it was so light and spongy. I would make it again, very easy. Thanks for the recipe.

Pierre ZFP
OK so I have just tried this recipe!Yeah, not bad at all [:P]I had to cook it for a bit longer than specified as I have a 700watt microwave, not 1KWSo, I turned it out onto a plate, still a bit gooey in the middle, but none the worse for that, and very light and spongey.Add a big dollop of fromage frais and you're sorted!!!I'll add a bit more cocoa powder next time as I think the stuff I got is not very strong
