chocccie
What is it??!I've just been clearing out the wine rack (as it's so thick with dust I can no longer read the labels!!) and came across a bottle of this. My partner has bought it, opened it, had one and it's sat there. For at least a couple of months, probably longer.I've never had it... what is it? Is it like a wine (and therefore needs to be thrown away) ... or more like a fortified wine (and therefore can be drunk)? Is it sweet? I never buy sweet wines so am clueless.THANKS! Alex H
Its a bit like Pineau, so its fortified - our neighbours always use it for an aperitif [:-))]From an online wine dictionary;Muscat de Rivesaltes AC[mews-KAH (muhs-KAT) reev-SAHLT]APPELLATION that surrounds the small town of Rivesaltes, which is located north of Perpignan in France's LANGUEDOC-ROUSSILLON region. It produces a well-known VIN DOUX NATUREL (sweet FORTIFIED wine) using the primary grapes of Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains and Muscat of Alexandria (see MUSCAT). The resulting wines are deep colored, alcoholic, and sweet. The RIVESALTES AC also produces Vin Doux Naturel in which GRENACHE, MALVOISIE, MACABEO, and Muscat grapes can be used. Clair
It's a well-known awfully bitter wine and you should send it to me straight away so I can get rid of it for you... [Www]Muscat de Rivesaltes (in Google English here)

Dog
My neighbour keeps giving me bottles of Pineau - what the flip do you do with it?It vaguely alchoholic, it's sweet and doesn't even strip paint.I think I will give it to the chickens.
