gmcneill
I've just about got the hang of the different flour gradings in France. However the choice and quality is somewhat limited in the supermarkets and as I make a lot of bread I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy flour in bulk in paris? Say 5 or 10kg sacks. I've tried various markets round the 6th and 7th districts where I live but with no luck so far.Any help much apreciated.ThanksGraeme
Pickles
We buy 5kg sacks of T65 farine de ble in Carrefour for about 5€. "And what is this white powder that you seem to have rather a lot of, Monsieur?" is now a question that we are now used to being asked as we take it in hand luggage on the plane.RegardsPickles
Clair
Your best bet would be to try the biocoops and other health food shops in Paris. They usually sell several kinds1, 3 or 5 kg bags.See http://www.biocoop.fr/carte-magasins.phpYou could also order online directly from a mill: Moulins de VersaillesMoulin MauriceI buy mine in 5 kg bags from Gamm Vert and it comes from a mill 40 km away.Useful flour info: http://aulevain.canalblog.com/archives/2008/08/21/10304760.html
gmcneill
Thanks for all the advice. I am going to take a trip to the Moulin de Versailles tomorrow. Load the car up with a few big sacks of flour.
