Walnuts

We spent an hour picking walnuts and now I have ended up with black fingers and nails. I have tried everything to get rid of the stain but it won't budge and it looks awful! Has anyone any ideas how to remove the discolouration?

No but it goes after a few weeks.

Nearly as nice as stinky pickled onion finger which lasts bearly as long.

I usually grind the walnut with my feet on the ground then pick up the nut - but then I am a neanderthal.

All ours are already out of their green husks when we pick them up - I thought that was the way to do it? This year, because it's been so dry, the nuts are a lovely golden colour, with no muck on them at all.

I have the pickled onion fingers and I forgot to take off my watch, so all the picked onion water\juice has gone in all the sections in the strap.....still wafts past now and again when I get hot...Ughhhhh

I can't help with the removal of the stain either, so since you are going to be stuck with it for a few days, at least you can knowledgably tell your friends that your fingers are stained Van Dyke Brown.  Walnut were the origin of this tint oft used by the Dutch master.
