NormanH
As Ramadan begins shortly the big supermarket chains will be bringing out 'les saveurs de l'orient' type promotions.Although there is a fast during daylight hours, there is a feast in the evening, and the average spend of Muslim families goes up over 30% during this month, so obviously the shops want to cash in, although if our town is typical it will mainly be the vegetable stalls and halal butchers who will profit.Might be a chance to try some things you haven't tasted...Les feuilles de brick, les dattes, le lait fermenté et les soupes traditionnelles du Maghreb, l'harira et la chorbahttp://www.lefigaro.fr/conso/2012/07/19/05007-20120719ARTFIG00642-les-distributeurs-ciblent-directement-le-ramadan.php

idun
Does anyone know what muslims who live in nordic countries, OR north of Scotland do about Ramadam. All very nice a religion being started in a country where dusk and dawn don't change much. But here it is light until late, and dawn is early at this time of year, and we are not 'that' far north. nomoss
Does anyone know what muslims who live in nordic countries, OR north of Scotland do about Ramadam.
Tie a little knot in one of the threads? (So they can tell the difference) Edit: Maybe an explanation is needed for some http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/religion/islam/ramadan_questions.shtmlBut it's more likely they receive a timetable[:D]
