Nell
Philadelphia is sold in Auchan and L'eclerc.
sueyh
Thanks Nell, our nearest Auchan and L'eclerc are 45 minutes away, someone has suggested Fromage a Tartiner, perhaps I'll see if I can get that from Intermarche 15 minutes from us.Suey
NormanH
These shops seem to stock it, though as they are often franchises I suppose it depends on your local branch:

idun
I make it. Let milk go off and then put it in a boiled linen cloth placed in a seive over a bowl and then keep moving it around until it is solid and then leave another couple of days like that in the fridge. Keep draining the bowl. Then mix with salt and pepper and what ever else you fancy. Easy to make. Sorry but not in time for tomorrow though. But maybe for another time. ps I use whole milk
Chancer
Widely available under the brand name St Moret, Lidl and Netto sell it probably Aldi as well.
suein56
Widely available under the brand name St Moret, Lidl and Netto sell it probably Aldi as well.
St Moret is sold in most supermarkets ... including SuperU, Intermarché and Casino. Kiri is a good substitute too if you plan to make a cheesecake, as I have used that when the locally sold Philly was too expensive for too small a pack. There are also own-label copies but I don't know how good they would be.Sue
Gardengirl
I've used St Moret, bought at our mini-Carrefour branch, although not for cheesecake. It worked fine in my recipes.
sueyh
This is to make Salmon mousse. Thanks everyone and a happy, healthy new year.Suey
mint
All own label cream cheese is just fine. But, why not mascarpone? Idun has converted me to mascarpone for making pastry and nowadays I happily use it for anything that asks for cream cheese.
Chancer
The only times I have used St Moret was for cheesecakes, I made a couple quite recently, it works well and tastes fine to me but then I only have a memory of what Philadelphia tastes like I have not been able to compare them side by side.
