Not French Italian!

I never ate at his restaurant, though I did eat at other Italian places in Soho in my youth. always a good welcome, and ambiance.

Recently , on visits to the UK, we've eaten at an Italian place  somewhere off the M4, and had the same kind of welcome and friendly chat. The host/cook came to the UK as a child just after WW2, married an english girl (from Newcastle!) and started a restaurant business. Very good food too.
