woolybanana
The Prince of Mist - seems to fit our criteria. I've put a link via the blog so folks can go and look at it if they wanna. It is not something I have read but I hope it might appeal right across the board.
idun
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prince_of_Mist Did this search and realised that there was a blow by blow account of the book, which I didn't read, incidentally. What I read was the first paragraph and it sounds spooky and I am a scardey cat. I'll give it a go if it isn't too frightening, but it doesn't take much to have me hiding behind the settee. I am brave and reckless quite often, but some things I cannot read or watch.
Dog
A 1992 book by the Stephen King of Spain -we should be reading it Spanish...Available secondhand for 1.92 sterling from Amazon.
Gardener
The Kite Runner Khaled Hosseini
Dog
I think we should start from the bottom and work our way up so I suggest 'Irene Iddesleigh' by the irrascible Amanda McKittrick Ros.She was a great lady and invented so much that has developed the novel in English even if she was Irish.I collect her first editions especially with her hand written notations. She was a wonderful lady.
Dog
The Kite Runner Khaled Hosseini
When I realised Khaled knew very little about kite flying my enjoyment of his story ended. His previous book was much better.
mint
How about "Ill met by moonlight"? Pommier
I looked for a book that I haven't read, but that other people loved or hated. What about Micka by Frances Kay?http://www.amazon.co.uk/Micka-Frances-Kay/dp/0330513826

Pommier
I've ordered a copy. The best price I found was via Amazon France from The Book Depository - new - €8,37 inc delivery.
woolybanana
I've ordered from Amazon fr too. BUT, how the heck do Amazon uk justify over £5 for p n p; a rip off surely?
woolybanana
Now, here is another interesting problem: Book Depository usually delivers free, so why are Amazon fr. making a charge?
Russethouse
Not available via Kindle either, (as far as I could see) thats something we'll need to look out for next time
Pommier
I looked for ages on Google, but anywhere doing free post was charging the extra for the book!

Pommier
Next time I'll wait for Gardener to find the best price!I have to admit that I don't know how book clubs work. Do we discuss chapter by chapter, or read the whole book and say what we liked or disliked about it?
Loiseau
My only experience of a book group has been the latter. Everyone discusses their views of the book after reading the whole thing.Angela

Pommier
I'm still waiting for my copy, but I'd have thought 3 weeks would be enough.
