Rabbie
Congratulations. It is always difficult to decide what is a good name. Our view of names is often coloured by whether or not we like people who have that name. How do you like your husband's mother's name or other family names. Where do you live? America, France or somewhere else? You could try googling for common French girls names and see if any of those appeals to you. Good luck in any case
minnie
Congratulations. As Rabbie said it's all very personal to you. For my mind I like the followinghttp://nameberry.com/babyname/Amelie
Patf
Whatever you choose remember it will probably be shortened eventually. My 2 favourites are Geneviève and Ghislaine. Genny sounds nice, but not Ghisy.
mint
I like Laetitia and Mathilde
woolybanana
If you child is to have the immense benefit of being bilingual then try to choose names that sound ok in both languages.
mint
OK then, Lucie or Claire? But I don't think it's that important if the name is obviously French but it might be best to avoid names with accents because then it's hard to write on a QWERTY keyboard?[:)]
woolybanana
Writing on a keyboard is not a good idea! But maybe QWERTIA might be a novel name.Or you could go for the old ones like Marie Therese (leave off the accents) but do see 'La Vie est une longue fleuve tranquille' first. mint
I think that these days I prefer AZERTIA.Sorry, OP, we are now off on our infantile ramblings[:$]I do read a lot so if I come across any nice, slightly unusual girls' names, I'll let you know[:)]
Pierre ZFP
How about Zoë or better still, Zoe which is much easier to type on multilingual keyboards
alittlebitfrench
My favourite French girls name is 'Alyette' .Such a beautiful name and not very common. You also have 'Maëlle' which is also very nice but very difficult to pronounce. 'My hell' LOLWhy not walk around a very old graveyard in France for some ideas ????

Hoddy
I think Rabbie is right that sometimes it depends on people who you have know with that name in the past.It also depends on what kinds of names you like. There are a couple of Oceans around here, but it's not a name that appeals to me. I think Delphine is a charming name that would suit a little girl or an adult. Carol or Carole would be OK in either language. The latest addition around these parts is one of my neighbours four-years-old Victoire and we are all under orders that it will never be Vikki. Gardengirl
I like Rebecca, Rose, Claire and Louise, each of which would be fine in either language. Many French girls' names have Marie, such Marie Louise, Marie Claire, Marie France etc, which I like too, and would also be suitable.
Pierre ZFP
I used to know a Marie-Pierre which always sounded odd to me and I have a work colleague Pierrette which again doesn't sound quite right
Russethouse
How about Chantal ? Or Clemence? But a lot depends on how it will sound in your American accent....there may be a big difference say between New Jersey and Texas......

lucastamiller
Yes i searched many sites yesterday. I founded these names for my baby . This site has many names with meanings . Can you suggest me some good french names from here http://www.babynology.com/french-girlnames-a0.html
idun
You chose, your baby, you have to live with your baby and also as they grow up, explain how they got their name if they think it is rubbish and hate it.And some names are not said the same in french either. Look at Agnes, said as Ann'yes in french, which is far prettier IMO, than AG ness which is a 'hard' sounding name.
