Catrina Money
We have received an invitation to our French neighbours wedding (church and vin d'honneur only). Can anyone advise me what is considered to be correct as regards a present? The couple already live together in their own home, with their child and I understand it is acceptable to give money or a cheque in this situation. Chancer
Yes, money or a cheque to what you reckon the cost to them per head of entertaining you or your percieved value.Scrap that! (I must learn to read properly) if its just the church and vin d'honneur I am not sure, best to wait for other views.
Gyro
Case of wine or old bottle of congnac or armagnac. That was the type of gifts I received from my French work colleagues who came to our Vin d'honneur
pitway
There is usually a decorated box with a slot cut in it for people to put an envelope with either cash or a cheque in. You could put a nice card in it too if you wish,
Loiseau
There is usually a decorated box with a slot cut in it ....
... called a "cagnotte" in my experience, in case you need to ask if there is one.Angela
