Clair
You know the Peter Myale sort of books, the ones that pretend to explain the quirky habits of everyday life in France...I remember reading 'Les carnets du Major Thompson' (Pierre Daninos) a long long time ago, which was all about England and its daily life. Are there any others, perhaps more recent, that do the same thing? LanguedocGal2
Clair,I saw at least 5 titles of these types of books on the UK in a large bookshop in Montpellier a few months ago. Couldn't bear the thought of reading them either ,as I couldn't the thought of reading the Peter Mayle one when it came out. Am I the only person who never read that book?Mind you, saw the film loosely based on it a few weeks back and that wasn't a very clever thing to do.[:(](Ted Stanger is in a league of his own and I have read all but one of his books on France). Clair
I just wonder if they are are 'embroidered' for their market as the Peter Mayle & Co are...?Ted Stanger is on my list, but I have to recoup the money I foolishly spent (squandered !)on car repairs before allowing myself more book treats!
