Bob T
To be honest, if you want to ride an exotic gray import bike then be prepared for it to cost you. Exclusivity has never been cheap.

It's quite normal. I always buy my car and bike spares in the UK. A few years ago I needed an exhaust for the car I had at the time. I went to the main dealer and was quoted 400 euros. I then went to a motor factors and got a price for a pattern part, the price they gave - 400 euros ??? The guy in the shop didn't seem to understand that a pattern part is normally much cheaper than an original item. I think he just gave me the main dealer price. I ended up buying a pattern part in the UK for about 60 pounds, then, as it came in sections, managed to fit it in 2 large suitcases and flew back. SMT
You should be able to order LHD headlamps from a U.K. dealer and get it shipped over. My company specialises in Saab & Volvo parts and we ship loads of parts into France and the rest of Europe, including LHD headlamps or just the glass (which seems to do the job if available seperately) to Brit's who have exported their cars to France.Simon. Mr Wiggy
Regarding the exporting a grey import from the UK, it will be more or less imposible as the machine was meant for the US market. All I did when I brought my Beems over was to send my Registration documents to the DVLA and got an Export cert for them. Juju
It not that I didn't bother reading your reply, I've been in France (funnily enough!) trying to sort out schools, go for job interviews etc, sorry I didn't reply of course the info is gladly accepted. Juju
The reason I had an import was not to be exotic or different, its to be cheap! Its exactly the same as the dragstar used to be, viragos and dragstars don't seem to be made anymore, and I couldn't afford anything else. Same goes for why I can't afford to sell it and buy another in France, but at this rate I'll not be able to afford to import it either & have to drive a Citroen Diane or something...was looking forward to biking in France... Bob T
I think that you need to consider what you mean by cheap. If the importation and the cost of spares here is going to cost much more than running it in the UK, then cheap might mean selling it and buying a bike that costs a little more to buy but costs little to import and run in France.Have looked at ebay.fr in the moto section to see what a cheap bike will cost here?
