cooperlola
The fact that you are in different countries, and that your marriage is possibly British (you don't specify) could affect how you do this. I've found one or two specialists by googling, eg:http://www.divorceaid.co.uk/legal/international.htmEDIT: Looking at Tinabee's link that may be the better option also. Mr Coeur de Lion
I'm going through a divorce right now. We got married in Australia, so we are getting divorced through Australia. Didn't touch the French system. My wife and I split 20 months ago, she went back to Australia and I stayed on in France until just two months ago (am in the US now). But we are getting the whole thing done via the Australian courts.Beware though, if you have any property in France, the government will rob you of 3% of the value of it just to transfer it into your name only. This is why I have decided to sell, in our financial agreement (also done in Australia), she has agreed to this.
Gemonimo
Well, Catwoman, I certainly hope you know where he is. When my ex-husband left it took me twelve years to get a divorce as he chose to 'disappear'. And as for the separation de biens, well, that was only taken care of after he died, eight years after the divorce[:-))]On a purely practical level, get yourself a lawyer you feel comfortable with and if your french is not up to legalese, an english speaking lawyer. In any case, I truly wish you well. It's a miserable moment for you.
