Hillsider
Someone told me that they thought there was a maximum bhp for French registered bikes. I was thinking of buying a big BMW tourer eg 1200 RT and re -registering it in France. Can anyone advise in a more informed way? Thanks

Lizfjr
If you have the certificate of conformity there is no problem. Take your documents to the prefecture. The CoC will enable your bike to be registered. And yes. I've done it.
Sunday Driver
Just to add to Liz's point. This only applies to post 2002 bikes which qualify for an EU certificate of conformity. You need to get the certificate from the UK importer - don't go via the French importer. If the bike is a pre-EU model, then you'll need a French national type approval certificate and for that, the French importer will make you jump through all the hoops....
