Putting photos into your posts

To put a photograph into your post:

  • The photograph must be on your computer.
  • The format should be .jpg
  • Open a free account at Photobucket.
  • Browse from Photobucket to your photo and choose it.
  • Upload to Photobucket.
  • When the photograph has uploaded it will appear in your album. Underneath there are three addresses.
  • Highlight and copy the one marked Img - make sure you have copied

the whole address. There should be IMG and /IMG in square  brackets at

the beginning and end of the address.
  • Paste the address into the appropriate place in your post, and the picture should appear.

You can get a false representation if you simply put in a photo address

without the IMG tags, as your computer finds the photo in its own

innards, whereas other viewers don't have access to that.

You can upload images to Photobucket from Internet URLs as well as from your computer.

If you are going to publish the pictures on the Forum (or elsewhere on the Internet) then they must either be your own or free from copyright restrictions.

When you upload to Photobucket you offered a number of Uploading Options - see under the 'Choose an Image' box.  You should choose Max Image Size Message Board (640 x 480) or smaller, otherwise your image will not fit on the forum page.

Well done Dick, that's very easy for everyone to understand.

One thing I would add is re-size your pictures to a maximum width of 400 before loading to photobucket. This ensures that they fit on the standard pc screen with having to do annoying sideways scrolling.
