Jonzjob
Hows about a squiggle on the wall 6 feet away at breakfast? He was taking a great deal of interest in the lemon plant under the fleece just before the shot.. powerdesal
Nice to see a red rather than a grey tree-rat.
Dick Smith
We are beset with them in England, but in France we get a rare glimpse of one, which is very nice. Much more nervous, though.
Christine Animal
You really take some fantastic photos Jonzjob ! Did you do the depth of field manually, or did it come out like that automatically? What a picture.
Jonzjob
Thank you Christine. I am afraid that I have got out of the habit of doing most things manually. Sometimes, if I don't like what the camera is trying to do, but mainly it does it as good as I could and a darn site quicker!!!We don't get any greys here Dick, but apparently some twit imported some into Italy a long time back, smae as in the U.K., and they are making their way up the 'Boot'. We think that hey live in a huge leylandie we have in the middle of our garden. We often see them drinking from the pool and they use the rough crepi n the house as if it were another tree. Wonderful for us [:D]!!
JayJay
Opportune that you started a nature thread John, beautiful animal & photo. Not brilliant shots but done in a bit of a rush & lucky the camera was right near. I only went to replace a fatball & they all decided to visit, what I didn't get in shot, were the 4 tits below attacking the other fatball! This feeding station is only 3/4 feet away from my chair anyway, but I was stood at the window 6inches away. Pip
There's plenty of wildlife in Jay Jay's garden and they are so relaxed. I wasn't far away from this little fella and he was completely unperturbed. As you can see they never go hungry !! Christine Animal
What do you mean they never go hungry ! There's no more fat in the fat ball ! Oh well, will have to make do with the peanuts. [:D] [:P] [:D]
Dick Smith
They come and eat in FranceBut not in England...Too many cats and compensation from the squirrels, I suspect, also the main road and the railway line etc.

Dick Smith
When I took that pic there were actually three Tits, but one was always on the ground, picking up the seeds that fell. It was like watching avian juggling.
Jonzjob
That little squiggle was back again and this time with intent! It's building a drey (I think that's the correct for a squiggle nest?) and had a look at all the pot plants to see if there was any winter fleece left. Unfortunately it's been removed cause it isn't cold... So it settled for the dead, dry grass under one of our platan trees...I think that I will have to carry my small camera with me later on incase I nearly fall over the family playng outside my workshop again like last spring. WJT
Ahh, he is adorable. I would be tempted to start feeding him. I have done this in the past with two grey squirrels that used to come up to our patio doors and I would feed them from my hand. I worried though once we moved that perhaps they became too dependant.I know that it has been said the red ones are more shy but I never see squirrels at our house in France for some reason [:(]. Christine Animal
Those are just too much Jonzjob, ahh, the one of him in front of the window, they're really lovely. Like the lemon too.
Jonzjob
WJ they feed on pine nuts amongst other things. Have you ever tried to open pine nuts, they are armour plated and when they do let go everyone gets some. No we don't feed these little wonders, they can do well enough for themselves, but we do get a boat load of pleasure watching them...They also eat birds eggs which amaised us! Pads
Jonh I wanna see your squiggle too please .....................I put my dogs hair from the dog brush out in the hedge and the birds and squiggles take it to line their nest, I think there mut be bits of Tigue woven into nest all over the village. Im afraid I too would be feeding the cheeky monkey as hes so brave to come right up to the window, What does the dog think of it? I think we should at lest give him a name ......................My vote Pickles[:D]
