Beryl
I love wooden shutters. They epitomise France for me, especially when painted in lovely colours but I don't mind plain wooden ones either. But I haven't got any.[:(] Any one got any shots to make my day? Beryl
Thank you; more more more please. I love that quincallerie shot. Maybe it's my rosy coloured glasses but what looks charming in France would look run down in England.... it has just got a certain je ne sais quoiI love your shutters Cooperlola , got any internal shots that you are prepared to share with the world ?[:D]

Tresco
They don't look cool in England though, do they? If I saw shutters in England I'd assume they were fake.My MIL, during the drive from the airport one summer said, 'Isn't it terrible, all these houses boarded up?'[:D]
AnOther
Not the best photo unfortunately but the shutters were one of the things which first attracted us to our house.
Beryl
That's lovely Ernie. If I had seen that shade of green in a Bricorama I would never have thought it would have worked and yet it looks really, really nice.
AnOther
Yes I agree, in isolation it's quite vivid and not what one would choose at all but against the coral Crepi of the house and complimented by the trees it looks perfect. It's quite a popular colour/combination down in Le Lot. Alane
This is my first attempt at posting a photo - so here goes. This is the view out of the window in St Come D'olt in the Lot Valley.
Daktari
I like the change of perspective, viewing the shutters from inside out - here's a more conventional shot
PeterG
I wish I could take photos like other people, as Dick said it's not the camera it's the person.............but here goes
Bellac87
hopefully this should be showing my old and new windows and shutters. For the planning I'd copied and pasted a picture of the upstairs window to where I wanted the new window to be and said that the shutters would look the same, they're actually a pretty good reproduction, now all I need to do is get the colours to match! cooperlola
Lovely Mark; those must use up a few pots of paint!
mark24
It took me 12 days to rub them down then one coat of under coat and two coats of paint They face south and have stood up well to the constant sun in the two years since they were finished There is a feather 5 around the front as well , all told about 3 weeks to finish them,The funniest thing was when we brought the house the shutters were open ,the first time we closed them we found that the previous owner had painted them when open and just the bits you could see had been painted . Beryl
That is a nice colour, is it Farrow and Ball ?I detest painting woodwork. I have only ever painted woodwork inside a house and even then I find microscopic bits of fluff, float and land on the wet paint... I dread to think what wildlife and other debris I would end up with stuck to my shutters if I had them !
cooperlola
You can cheat, Beryl, by lifting them off and painting them in a cleaner atmosphere!
Simon
It was quite a stir when my dear wife went for green rather than the standard brown in our village - Simon
Hoddy
Mark 24 I'd be very interested to know what type of paint you used. Following the received wisdom of the board at the time I used English paint and although I still love the colour I can't say that I'm pleased with the way it's coping with the weather.Hoddy
Christine Animal
I thought of you when I saw this house on Saturday Beryl. Beryl
That is a lovely blue . I would have to knock whatever they have tried to cover those lovely stones with. What on earth were they thinking of ? I bet they have stuck nylon carpet over parquet too.[:P]
