Fridgeman
Hi AllI had a quick search but could not find a post with the answer, I am sure there was a post regarding the weight of a oak beam, my question is what (approx) weight would an oak beam 200mm x 200mm x 6 mtrs long be.Many thanks in advance
Anton Redman
Oak has a density of between 590 and 930 kilograms per cubic metre.Your beam is 0.24 cubic metres so at the top end will weigh 223 kilogramsIf you google 'density oak' a table will come up with almost all woods listed

sharkhunter
Anton, i was expressing an opinion for other people to understand how heavy these beams are, personally i balance them two at a time, flick the joist holders up with my left foot and spit the screws in, ok, ok i hear people saying that's not possible, i admit to using twist nails, no-one is perfect. Anton Redman
Any body who can lift 200 Kgs by themselves has my admiration AKA fear. I would have said it is powered winches, block and tackle or team of oxen depending on your views of technology
