Postie
At long last I have found the time to post the pics of the oak staircase built by OH. He saved a fortune by buying rough planks & making the staircase in his workshop. Patf
Very nice - he's clever! I love your landing bannisters. Good for hanging washing to air off. What are you using to treat the wood? We have an oak staircase, made by Gedimat, and it needs either oil or varnish or something.

Postie
Thank you both,Yes, my OH is very good at his woodwork & steelwork & we are very pleased with the results. We have treated all the new oak with a 50/50 mix of linseed oil & turpentine. It brings out the grain & colour beautifully. Mrs Postie
confused of chalus
Showed your pics to my OH, as we are looking at staircases at the moment. I thought he might be inspired to have a go! All he said was ' lovely, is he local?'[:D]

Théière
You should be very proud, thats a big job and (IF) you had just a small error and the whole thing could look terrible. Excellent and a really well done.
Chancer
I cant see the small error, perhaps with my glasses on, however its a bit harsh to say that the whole thing looks terrible [6]

Postie
Thank you all very much - the house is now rented out on a long term rental to a French family who are over the moon with it. A shame to rent it out after all the hard work but the garden was just too small for Mrs Postie, so now it's on to renovating our current house - am I a sucker for punishment or what!!
