Jonzjob
Just as well we don't rely on wood for our heating, because a lot of ours starts off like this And finishes up like thisThe wood is beech and bamboo. The bamboo was used for the tow bar and rails on the trailer because it is the strongest wood I could think of.Since I made that one for me I have now made 2 more. One for my middle grandson and one for a commission. I modified the tow bar and trailer sides to try to make them stronger. I also think it looks better to?

Looking at them I can only imagine how much work went into making each individual segment of each piece. What talent and skill ... and patience.Bravo ! Jonzjob
Thank you Sue! Patience doesn't really come into it really? It's like reading a really good book, I get my head stuck into it, the time flies and things appear. As for the skill of doing it, that has come after 15 years of past mastikes? It is something that I love doing.
Théière
I like the back mudguards on the tractors, so delicate, must have driven you potty [:)]
Jonzjob
They are turned as a shallow dish, cut in 1/2 on my band saw and then cut to the final shape back and front. They have to be thin, but too thin as to be fragile.
Gardian
I like the back mudguards on the tractors, so delicate, must have driven you potty [:)]
If I may be picky, mudguards on a tractor in this neck of the woods are not prototypical & would definitely be regarded as a sort-of GTI extra. A bit poncey. The boys here prefer to spray as much crap in the air as possible - sadly for them, moisture on the roads and in the fields is hard to come by.Really lovely models.[8-|]
Jonzjob
[:D]When this type of tractor was first made in Germany in the 20/30s they decided to try to stay out of the sh!t as much as possible before that 'hero' Sh!tler got everyone upset at each other?I believe that it is modelled on a tractor called a LANZ Bulldog http://www.google.fr/imgres?imgurl=http://www.tractordata.co.uk/german/images/lanz_bulldog.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.tractordata.co.uk/german/pages/lanz_bulldog/index.htm&h=606&w=700&sz=132&tbnid=5nAoHx6RIOjxFM:&tbnh=121&tbnw=140&prev=/images%3Fq%3DLANZ%2BBulldog&zoom=1&q=LANZ+Bulldog&usg=__-Cf1Mr7WZn4kqzAk7CZgpsn0dwQ=&sa=X&ei=o-aPTLbYNNTK4gbv0-2EDg&ved=0CC4Q9QEwBgGood grief, that's a long link!Gardian, I'll bet that you are the butch type that gets soaked on a push bike rather than have the sense to put mudguards on yer bike?[:-))]Apart from that, thank you! I love making them and someone has asked if I could do a traction engen? I will look into it?

Jonzjob
As I was making the tractor/trailers I took photos so as to do a WIP for a woodturning forum I belong to. If you would like a peek it is on here http://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/jonz-tractor-trailer-wip-t44929.htmlA bit long, that is why I couldn't post it on here, I hope that you like it..
