woolybanana
I have been bringing back to life an old bench and changed the wooden slats completely; the paint I chose is not exactly the colour I wanted, so, as I do seem to have a bit of it about, can anyone tell me svp whether one can paint Hammerite onto waterbased paint on wood?Merce d'avance. Théière
But did he mean it was a good idea??!
I felt sorry for Wooly, Even Norman has a roof over his head by way of his barrel, seems wooly has fallen on hard times and is now sleeping on a park bench so if he want's to renovate it with the paint he has I didn't want to add any more financial pressure with new paint [;-)][Www]My Brother (computing) painted his front doorstep with Hammerite, whilst the finish isn't what I would call good it has lasted. Jonzjob
It worked well on our gates, but I think that they were made by Apple and they are iRon. Never heard of anyone wanting to paint wood with it though?Any special reason Wooly??
woolybanana
Found an old tin, it is the right colour.Probably decided against the idea though, maybe, perhaps.
Jonzjob
If you did want to use it then I would recommend that you seal the wood with a cellulose sanding sealer. That's what I use when I am finishing anything off with melamine lacquer and that stuff stinks far more than Hammerite. It would definitely give you a better finish than just the Hammerite.Mind you, I use cellulose sanding sealer quite often. Cheaper than booze [8-)][8-)]
woolybanana
Never heard of it. JJ. The wood I was gonna cover with Hammerite had been treated with a double coat of Xylophene.
