pewter

Recommended Posts

I went to a lovely medieval village called St Ursanne (in the Swiss Jura) and bought a fantastic large, heavy, fluted pewter dish for ...... CHF 5 = about 3 quid, a perfect match for a larger dish inherited from parents which dates from 1720s.

Recently at a troc shop a large, heavy, wonderful shape pewter jug, about £8. I love pewter, and am so pleased nobody else seems to do!

For our 10th wedding aniv, pewter, we bought a lovely Fench triple candle stick and 2 lovely wine jugs with hinged lids and acorn lid lifters (for want of a better description). I have always loved pewter and have an Edward 7th pint pot too which was my 'old mans'.

Whenever we are in brocants I am always looking out for the nice pewter. The French is not a good a quality as the English, but they do so much more in elegant pieces. That's my opinion anyway.

Congratulations on your finds Odile.
