Limousin Lass
We would like to have some metal ballustrading made for a new terrace, has anyone had these made and any recommendations please. We are in 87 (Haute Vienne) just south of Limoges and would prefer someone in that area.ThanksSylvia
Anton Redman
We used the forge at Bienniac (87600) , just east of Rochechouart, fot reinforcing bracket for the main tree of joists in out house about 8 years ago. Good value very accurate work, they also did decorative work. Not sure if they are still trading as we moved from Vayres about two years ago. sid
We had 3 sets made about 18 months ago; these were for steps at the front of the house and one set inside. We used a local (to us!) guy in Chef-Boutonne. He came to measure up for the devis and brought a fantastic catalogue of all the different designs. We were spoilt for choice! You choose the handrail and it's charged by the metre and then you choose the upright spindle style, so much per spindle. Additinal cost for the main posts and then any fancy balls or finials. It soon adds up! We chose a medium priced set, not too fancy but very nice nonetheless and we are pleased with the results BUT I still think they were expensive at 4000€ and would have been more expensive if we'd chosen the galvanised option. That said, they're very heavy and well made (nothing like the spindly stuff you get in Casto or LaPeyre) and fitted perfectly. They look like the type you find outside public buildings. He's probably too far away for you but at least you know what to expect! If you need the name please pm/email me.Sid

Limousin Lass
Hi Ab, Thanks for the info could be interesting, could you find out the name for me please and we will have a look next time we are in the area.I decided on Limousin Lass simply because the name I wanted (Moonraker, as I am originally from Wiltshire), had already been taken, have lived in a lot of different places in UK and abroad but never in the NE.Sylvia
