Pumpkin
I am trying to find a market in the next few days that is similar to the Saintes monthly market/foire. Does anyone know what the market at Surgeres is like and if there are any jewellery stands? Or where the market people trade when they are not at Saintes or do they just take the rest of the month off! Thanks.
Iceni
Your local tourist office should have a little list. The market traders will only take the rest of the month off if they have been really good at fleecing the tourists.John
Pumpkin
Thanks but has anyone been to the monthly market at Surgeres as I can't tell from listings if it is just food and livestock. I am looking for jewellery.
samanta
lol!!us market people do not 'take the rest of the month of' I wish!!!!You'll find most traders will travel around to various monthly markets and will probably have a regular pitch at a few weekly ones too!I don't know the markets in your region, but there is a huge market at Roulliac the 27th of the month. As for bijoux, it depends what you're looking for, most markets seem to sell the cheap baubly stuff. If you're looking for something special, you may be better with craft / Artisanart markets.Just keep looking in your local papers for dates.Or try the Islands July / August. There are fab markets in almost all the towns every morning.St Denis and Domino are particularly lovely morning markets.there's a big one in Ars (no pun intended!!!) happy shopping!
