valB
A friend of mine here in France is gagginng for some Scampi so I wondered if it can be purchased here. If so, where ? We live in Deux Sevres close to Poitiers and Niort and she does not mind a short journey to buy some. Picard in Niort is a frozen food shop so does anyone know if they stock it. Anton Redman
Suspect what you buy in the UK is not actually scampi not listed on Pichard site but some close equivalents in the fish sectio http://www.picard.fr/
Lilly
Buy some raw langustine tails (frozen or otherwise) flour them dip them in beaten egg and dip into bread crumbs, fry in hot oil until breadcrumbs are are a golden colour and voila better than nasty frozen scampi but the real thing. andyh4
Alternatively buy monkfish - Lotte - and cut into scampi sized pieces. Before the trades description act in the UK the vast majority of "Scampi" was in fact Monkfish - and back then, Monkfish had not aquired it's reputation, so it was a fish likley to be thrown back into the sea if it were not for the scampi outlet.
