Jay
Recently we received a new debit card from NatWest with the Visa logo. My first purchase using this card was a children's book from Amazon.co.uk. When I checked my bank statement I noticed there was an additional charge of £1.22 for the transaction.I contacted Amazon UK who said this charge must have been made by my bank as it was not them. My bank insisted they do not make charges like that and it was down to Amazon. After several emails I am no further forward. While this small amount is not going to break the bank it should not have been charged and I have no intention of using Amazon again until it is sorted. Purchases made using my French Mastercard debit card to both Amazon UK and FR have gone through without any problem and no charges. I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has had similar problems.
Alex H
A quick google found this http://bluematter.blogspot.com/2010/01/visa-debit-125-charge-for-amazon-and.htmlIt seems Amazon routes the transaction through Luxembourg (???) therefore the charge is for a foreign transaction by your bank.
