Jonzjob
2s up for the Sony Bravia. We had ours for 7 weeks now and still going strong!![8-|] It's predecessor was also a Sony Bravia and was about 10 years old and is still going strong, but not full HD and smartass, just HD ready. The new one is a real cracker [8-|]
DerekJ
Tbh, I don't think you can really buy a bad TV from one of the main manufacturers... performance and quality seems to be pretty good from most of them. Having said that, we're currently running three Sony Bravias - 2 in the Uk and one in France. One UK one is connected via Virgin Media, the other Uk is wirelessly connected to the web.The French one is connected via a HUMAX box to Freesat. All excellent. mint
Thanks to everybody who have posted.Picked one now, having taken on board all your recommendations and read some on-line reviews. Paid for and ordered on Amazon France.Just hope I don't miss too many days of Roland Garros before it arrives!
mint
Did I say all sorted? Well, actually, no!Unusually for Amazon, I have encountered a problem. In Amazon's defence, it's not them but a retailer selling via their website.Credit card declined, I suspect because it is a UK card but registered to my French address nonetheless.French company with an ENGLISH-sounding name. Alas, nothing like Amazon or even UK customer service!Sometimes I try to buy something from a smallish retailer and have had my UK credit card declined. This I accept totally and use my French carte bleue instead. But I think this is unacceptable for such a big retailer as Amazon. Not only that, on account of the public holiday, it's been a full 4 days before I was notified that my card wasn't going to be accepted. TBH, I was only in such a hurry to buy a new TV in order to be able to watch Roland Garros. Now I shall have to drive around until I find a shop that stocks it and personally take it home with me rather than have it delivered to my door. NOT a happy bunny[:'(]

If they have what you want in stock then they deliver the goods themselves in their own vans asap.OH and I are very pleased with our last 3 purchases (online) from them.Sue
mint
Thank you, Sue. Boulanger doesn't have it but an on-line company called Rue du Commerce does. Even so, it won't be delivered now till Tuesday so I might try my luck in the shops on Saturday.I am so cross because I felt that I've now lost 4 days during which I could have bought the tv.It's only the qualifying rounds for now but I don't really want to lose out on the main event. In extremis, I might just buy a decodeur for now and sort out the new tv later. However, if any of my tennis heros seem to be winning and through to say quarters or semis, I'll have to go and buy or steal or borrow one! Thanks for your lovely attitude of wanting to help[:D]
