Peterm
Does anyone on the forum know about metal detecting in France? I have an idea that it's illegal (except presumably on one's own land?) but this may well be wrong - can anyone enlghten me please? Peter
Anton Redman
Have a look at the attached http://www.prospection.net/juridique_detection_de_metaux/interdictions.html
Dick Smith
Indeed, Anton, all objects left behind on WW1 and WW2 battlefields are considered part of the patrimonie and not to be tinkered with, and certainly not to be removed. I have had my car searched when returning from battlefield tours (the douaniers noticed a book on Verdun on the front seat). This may also include objects bought, for example from local markets or le musée des abris in Albert.
