judybos
A Friend has told me, to ride a horse on the roads in France you have to obtain a license from a local riding school ?, ( not that I plan to ride far on the road) but you have to use them to get to the white roads and tracks, my horse is insured for public liability and I would like to have short rides round my village when time is short and evenings, any help Thanks Judy
lafermedegrandjean
Hi,I beleive that with the licence you have the extra cover in the case of someone sueing you and saying it was your fault and not the horses'. If you compete you need your licence and there are three sorts depending on what level you compete at. Bon courageLouise Bowles

PaysBasque
Hi Judy, there has been a thread about this not too long ago and there are some useful replies. Go to http://forums.livingfrance.com/shwmessage.aspx?ForumID=289&MessageID=179749 .I think that you would be better off with a license, but you don't have to have one.Regards,
