Christine Animal
Did you know that on Monday 13th June there is a programme on French television, France 2, at 23.15 (11.15 pm in English, French time) entitled « Un oeil sur la planète ».The subject : Doit-on copier les Anglais? Here below is the text concerning the programme in the Nouvel Observateur:Les Anglais sont énervants.
Vraititi
PSG till I die -fluctuat nec mergitur.
Yeah, and no doubt the umpteenth clicheoscope that barely skims over the surface while serving the unsuspected viewers dollops of platitudes, untruths, shoddily analysed data and Blair's cronies' statistics to boot (and we know what they're worth). One way or another (positive or negative) it only serves one purpose: pertetuating the stereotypes. Hosted by Dame Christine Ockrent I presume ? What a laugh ! Vraititi
PSG till I die -fluctuat nec mergitur.
Well, did anybody watch it ? I did, and it was better than your usual clicheoscope about the UK (of course was still ful of cliches and laughable idées reçues but only 50% of the time as opposed to 90%). Was long (2 hours), which is good but dwelt too much on London and the City, though informative at times (especially the bit about JobCentres and UB's -that will have scared a few frenc people !), and No, wasn't Christine Ockrent at the helm but a young journalist with far more verve and nous than 'la fouine'. 5/10. What did you think ?
Christine Animal
We watched it and were quite surprised to see how much things have changed over there. Lots of money to be made in London, low chomage, wonderful integration. Tout le monde il est beau, tout le monde il est gentil. Makes you wonder why everyone is leaving...Christine
Vraititi
PSG till I die -fluctuat nec mergitur.
Yes, absolutely. What it SHOULD have mentioned as a priority was the fact that only 21% of the electorate in effect support Blair; watching the prog. you could have been forgiven for thinking that the whole of Britain was supporting him. If only 1/5th of the electorate support him, there's got to be a few more things wrong than what this pro-Blair prog revealed. Obviously, as with many of these progs, this journo (Thuillier) ONLY sought his info from Labour MP's (Mc Shane and Co) and their frightfully effective Spin Machine. Overall, though, for the average French person (no offence intended), it was more informative than the usual prog on Britain.
