Lehaut
In conversation recently , I was told that in French "Open" Horse events, only French Nationals will be invited onto the podium to receive their prizes. Others ( British children in this case) would still be awarded the places they had won, but would be given their prize "off camera" as it were, even when this is classed as an "Open" event and open to other nationalities. The person relating the story has young children who are very active in this sport and has been informed of this rule should his children be successful this year.Has anyone else heard/been subject to this? Pierre ZFP
I can't answer for horse events but in my sport, archery, 'Open' means just that and nationality is irrelevant. National competitions are different and the requirement (for archery) is to have been resident in the relevant country for at least three years to be allowed to walk off with any silverware. Not that I'm likely to win any National comps though [:(]
Dog
Strange this happened to me - I was told I could enter the French National Indian Fighting Kite Championship Competition but was told I was not allowed to win????
cricri
Not too sure about horses, but I won the French gliding championships in 2002 at Romorantin. They were very pi##ed off with me walking off with all the silverware. They changed the handicap system the following year and i came 3rd from last and 3 frenchys were on the podium. C'est la vie. I only fly for fun anyway he he he [:P]
