amateur football leagues

There are clubs in every town in France Mark.

The Dinan area is no exception. One look in the local paper (out every Thursday, it is called Le Petit Bleu)will show what clubs are in your immediate area. The problem at the moment, is of course it is summer and the season is finished. The season starts again earlier here than in the UK, so once you are here, buy the paper (1)and keep an eye out for when training re-starts.

Even the smallest villages often have, not only their own ground but several teams as well, ranging from the smallest ages right up to the Vets team.

What level did you play at in the UK?

Hi
Joining the local football team is about the best thing you can do for getting into the community.
I just asked around the village, I'm in the southern Dordogne, and within a week I was training and started playing after being registered.
I just needed to provide a photocopy of my passport and a passport sized photo.
You will get plenty of leg pulling but the team will be able to say it's 'international' once you sign up!!!
I can't recommend it highly enough as a way to get the best out of your time in France.
All the best
Craig

  • 5 years later...

Hi,

Found this post when looking for Veteran Football threads.

We have been playing maybe 5/6 times per year for a few years and had a couple of trips to Holland to play a local Dutch Veterans team. A great weekend of football and socialising.

We are based in Fareham near Portsmouth in the UK and thought it might be nice to hear if we could spread our wings and go on 'tour' somewhere else.

Our standard is local league and I think there are some pretty standard rules for Vets football wherever you are. If anyone interested then just reply to the post and see what happens.

Hi,

We are a Vets football team who play football in the Surrey, UK area. We are a friendly club of mixed age and ability. We are looking to go on tour next summer 2010 to coincide with the world cup. nemltd, I see you mentioned a great weekend away in Holland to play against a Dutch Vets team. Is it possible you could provide me with details on how you acheive that?

If there are any other ideas for an affordable trip away in France, Holland etc... to play a Vets team I would greatly appreciate it

cheers

Danny
