cooperlola
For those with nothing better to do (and there is nothing better to do, let's face it!), the test day for the Le Mans 24 hours (June) is this Easter Sunday from 09.00 to 18.00. Just 10€ a pop to see some mouth watering motors in the "flesh" on the full circuit.Scrutineering is also open to the public tomorrow and Saturday (although be warned, this is quiet - in the decibel sense - as engines are not fired up.) Théière
Aww that's disapointing, I am waiting on the manufacture of a stainless steel adapter plate which was promised for yesterday so would have been travelling down and would love to have stopped off for that. cooperlola
What a shame. It's been very pleasant sitting in the sun watching the cars being weighed and measured etc. How un-Prima-Dona-like is the average sports car driver - so willing to chat and pass the time of day. I wish more sportsmen were like them.

Frecossais
Cooperlola, there's a little article in the travel section of today's Mail on Sunday, (yes I know). It's titled " 6 Things you must do in Le Mans". I've never been there but it sounds an interesting place even without the racing. Sorry I don't know how to give you a link or anything. Maybe someone else can?
cooperlola
I'll have a search for it, Frecossais, thank you.In some ways it is a pity that Le Mans is just known for the 24 hours as it is a lovely city even without the racing heritage.A few web images. Théière
Is there a reason the French GP couldn't be held there?
cooperlola
I think that the full circuit is far too long for the safety requirements and the Bugatti is too short. But yes, it does seem logical. The Moto GP is already here after all, but of course they don't have to close any roads for that.
